Friends of the Winooski River ran as a primarily volunteer organization for the first 10 years of its existence. We have a rooted tradition in volunteer-driven restoration and protection projects. We're always on the look out for new volunteers, members and people who just want to get out on the river. Explore this section to learn more about how you can Get Involved with Friends of the Winooski River.
Become A Member: Help support our restoration and protection work by becoming a member of Friends of the Winooski River.
Volunteer: Without volunteer help, our restoration and protection projects would not be possible. Each year we have water quality monitoring and riparian tree planting volunteer opportunities in addition to special events and projects.
Events: Throughout the year we sponsor and participate in events to help broaden public understanding about protectng the Winooski River including volunteer tree planting projects, rain garden construction projects, educational presentations and more. Check back often for updates or join our email list.
Email Alerts: We keep in touch with volunteers, members and the interested public via email newsletters. Recipients should expect to receive 1-2 emails per month except during the busy spring season when it goes up to 4-5.
Suggestions: The Winooski Watershed drains 600 square miles and keeping tabs on that area is a huge task. If you have suggestions for projects that might be of interest to our organization or if you know of areas that could use protection, please get in touch.
